What is a Vampire Facelift?
The Vampire Facelift uses hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (like Restylane or Restylane Lyft) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate collagen in your skin. By using both of these methods, the Vampire Facelift provides a revitalization of skin, with marked increases in skin’s laxity, volume, and improved skin tone. Because Vampire Facelifts use PRP directly from your blood, the procedure is remarkably safe and effective. It is 100% customized to your needs, allowing you to grow new, younger-looking skin for long-lasting results. The Vampire Facelift is recognized for its ability to rejuvenate the face completely; resulting in firmer younger looking skin.
What is PRP?
PRP is concentrated blood plasma that is enriched with platelets, or cell fragments, that are found in the blood. Platelets contain eight potent growth factors along with other cytokines that stimulate the healing of soft tissue. In the body, platelets are responsible for helping the blood clot rebuilding damaged tissue. Externally, studies have shown that platelets can stimulate your stem cells resulting in the growth of new skin.
Your Doctor creates PRP from your blood (thus the “vampire” references). Blood is drawn from the patient’s arm and placed inside a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the serum, platelets and white blood cells from the red blood cells. Afterwards, the doctor collects the white blood cells or liquid plasma and the platelets for PRP.
Where is a Vampire® Facelift Most Effective?
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Lines from the nose to the mouth – nasolabial folds
- Smile lines
- Scars from injuries and acne
- Marionette lines that extend from the corners of the mouth down the chin
- Hollowed out cheeks
- Dark circles and thin skin under the eyes
The Vampire Facial vs. The Vampire Facelift (Injections)
With a Vampire Facial, we utilize Micro Needling to create tiny channels along the skin surface instead of application through injections as in the Vampire Facelift. Then, your doctor applies PRP directly to the skin, allowing the full penetration of PRP deep down into the dermis and epidermis layers of the skin. Topically applying PRP enables it to get into more planes in the skin, compared to injections where the PRP is isolated to the injected area. Thus the micro needling allows PRP to get into the skin more evenly affecting the total face rather than secluded sections.
To prepare for a Vampire® Facelift, it is necessary to stop taking any blood-thinning medications, such as ibuprofen or aspirin, as well as vitamins and supplements that do the same.
The downtime following a Vampire® Facelift is minimal with most patients returning to work immediately following the treatment.
