Your skin is a resilient organ that can rejuvenate and heal itself after virtually any sort of injury or impact. However, just like with anything, your skin can, literally, be stretched to its limit. Whether you have recently lost a lot of weight or gone through a pregnancy, you may have more than a few stretch marks to show for it— leaving you feeling more than self-conscious in the process. Luckily, here at Allure Skin and Laser, we can work to get rid of your stretch marks so that you can get back to enjoying the skin you are in. From laser to micro-needling, this article will discuss a few of the stretch marks treatments that we offer here at our office. Read on to learn more.
What Are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks occur when your skin has been stretched more than it can tolerate. When your skin is stretched this far, connective fibers can break which disrupts collagen production in the process and ultimately causes scarring. By eliminating the scarring, both laser and micro-needling can be used.
Laser for stretch mark removal is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of these scars. By using an excimer laser, ultraviolet laser light will be used to disrupt the molecular bonds in the skin tissue which will cause ablation (a process that breaks up the skin tissue). After a few laser treatment sessions, you will notice visibly smoother skin and less scarring.
Micro-needling is a procedure used to get rid of stretch marks by making small punctures into the skin. Once the punctures are made, PRP or platelet rich plasma will then encourage the promotion of newer, thicker skin— getting rid of your stretch marks in the process.
The good thing about stretch marks is that they are solely a cosmetic issue. However, they are enough to make you feel extremely self-conscious. With the help of Allure Skin and Laser, we can get rid of your stretch marks once and for all.
