Urinary Stress Incontinence and The O-Shot®

The O-Shot®Sneezing and peeing do not go together…or do they? If they are “a couple” in your world, relief without invasive surgery is here. It’s called The O-Shot®, a revolutionary treatment for women suffering from urinary stress incontinence. The treatment is performed in our office by our certified nurse practitioner and can be done during your lunch hour.

What is urinary stress incontinence (SI)? SI occurs when an activity such as laughing, lifting, exercising, sneezing or coughing puts additional abdominal pressure on your bladder causing a small amount of urine to leak from your urethra, the tube your urine passes through. SI is the most common type of incontinence and is especially common in older women. Additionally, women who have given birth are more likely to have stress incontinence. It can result from weak muscles in the pelvic floor or a weak sphincter muscle at the neck of the bladder. Chronic smoking, obesity or coughing may also lead to SI. The leakage may be as little as a drop or two, or may be a “squirt,” or even a stream of urine.

Both men and women can suffer from SI, but stress incontinence, especially in women, is often caused by physical changes to the body, such as pelvic surgery, the hormonal changes of menopause, weakened muscles around the bladder, and pregnancy and childbirth. When the muscles in the pelvis weaken, the bladder may drop down into a position that prevents the urethra from closing completely. The result is a leakage of urine.

Allure Skin and Laser Center is excited to offer the O-Shot® (orgasm shot) for women suffering from stress incontinence. Dr. Runels, who invented the Vampire FaceLift ®, also pioneered the O-Shot® – which helps to regenerate the tissues on the vaginal walls. Women who suffer from urinary incontinence are ideal candidates for this procedure.
