How to Control Your Oily Skin
- Posted on: Aug 30 2019
There are two common types of causes of acne: oil and hormones. And, oftentimes, the two are interconnected. How? Because sometimes hormones can cause an increase of production of oil on the skin which then, in turn, results in more acne. If you suffer from acne that is caused by a lot of oil on the surface, then you may be wondering how on earth you can combat it. Luckily, here at Allure Skin and Laser, we have a few tips for you. Let’s take a closer look.
Change Your Skin Care Products
One of the most basic things that you can do is switch up your skincare products to ones that will control your acne. Switching from a traditional face wash to one that has ingredients in it like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid is an excellent way for you to fight off the oil and balance it out in your skin. You can also use topical ointment or a spot treatment as well.
Here at our office, we are excited to offer a unique way to treat oily skin: The Smoothbeam Laser. The Smoothbeam Laser is designed to help treat the deeper levels in the skin to help shrink the oil glands, which lowers their oil production. The unique thing about this laser treatment is that it not only stops the creation of new oil, but it helps treat existing problems like acne scar. By heating up the collagen in the skin, it helps to form newer, plumper, healthier skin in the process. In fact, patients notice a 50-60% improvement in the appearance of acne scars.
Depending on the severity of your acne, we may recommend about 4-6 treatments that are spaced about four weeks apart on average. The great thing is that there is no downtime required for this treatment, which means that you can go right back to your normal activities. Although your skin may be red for a few days after each session, that should quickly subside.
